Is it supposed to be "ironic" - surely the point is that we did allow Nazi Germany to host the 36 Olympics - and in Jesse Owens and others the Nazi propoganda machine had a major problem`- not least from the welcome that ordinary Germans gave to Owens. Hitler chose not to greet any of the medal winners in order to avoid greeting the black athletes. However as the banner holder in the US seems to have forgotten, Ownes stayed in the same hotel in Berlin as the white athletes - something that was denied him at home!

Not sure this particular crowd does irony... but I'm very much with you on the moral of the 1936 story
