Blood & Honey: Jacob's Ladder

Tony Robinson does the Old Testament. Having been shown some creative children’s bible stories this week, my mind turned to Blood and Honey — shorts that used to go out on Sunday mornings so I’ve only seen a couple, but they struck me as the best Bible storytelling I’ve ever seen. I love the way in which he manages to keep the pace going on various levels at once, and connect the story to his viewers without being preachy. Magic stuff — yea, the best ever. Sadly now almost unobtainable, though, even in our mediarich multiverse.

Imagine what they could do with it now. The storytelling is very engaging.

The series he did on re-telling the parables was even better, I always thought - and even harder to get hold of. VERy funny, and very hard-hitting. DCH used to have a video, when such things were up to date media - has it been "tidied away" as out of date technology that takes up space , or is a valuable resource awaiting transfer to DVD???

I gather CTVC are copyright holders. Mad not to stick it into the public domain, even as DvD, or dripfeed onto facebook. Wonder if there's anyone out there could influence them to do something about this — if I ever get to meet TR I'd certainly ask...

I've been trying to get this for so long. The end of the YouTube clip says that you can get the rest through ctvc, but there's nothing on the website. I wonder if they'd send them out on request..

d'accord, Mark. I think this is the jewel in their crown Can't understand why CTVC don't seem to! Do say if you manage to get access to it in any form anywhere...

The US versions of Ebay and Amazon seem to offer some selected episodes, but according to other site there are 14 or 26 episodes!

If we can get hold of digital copies it would make my year. Been looking for this for ages.

I found that searching for "Ancient Tales from a Promised Land" or simply "ancient tales promised" rather than simply "Blood & Honey" was often more productive on some sites. I left out "Tony Robinson"
