Become an Instant Myers-Briggs Bore

Back in my adult education days, the most annoying person I met was, let’s call her, Rita Queen of Speed, an instant Myers-Briggs (MBTI) expert. She had spent a couple of days analysing herself and, it seemed all the world, on some ruddy workshop. Her every sentence was peppered with phrases like “Well, as an ISFJ I believe...” or “Of course St Paul was an INTJ...” Grrr...! Aaaargh!! Mummy! Show me the way to the nearest gas oven!!

Well, now we can all do an instant RQOS with a wondrous gadget called Typealyzer (h/t Steve Hayes). Feed in any blog address and it tells you its Myers-Briggs type. Instantly. Save Money on Workshops! Annoy your friends by analyzing their blogs! Nothing personally intrusive, you understand, but this tool comes complete with a pictographic analysis of your Brain at the time of writing...

So, here is this blog is this morning, according to Typealyzer:
ISTP — the Mechanics

The independent and problem-solving type. They are especially attuned to the demands of the moment are masters of responding to challenges that arise spontaneously. They generally prefer to think things out for themselves and often avoid inter-personal conflicts.

The Mechanics enjoy working together with other independent and highly skilled people and often like seek fun and action both in their work and personal life. They enjoy adventure and risk such as in driving race cars or working as policemen and firefighters.
Ach Zu! So we mechanics often like to seek fun and action in our personal lives? Really? I thought we just wasted time on our laptops.

And, just to indulge my inner RQOS Myers-Briggs Bore, here are one or two of my favourites and heroes this morning:
Steve Hayes:
Also, like this, ISTP (Mechanics)

Simon Sarmiento’s Thinking Angicans:
Also, Like this, ISTP (Mechanics)

Is a common theme emerging here?
Now for the Clincher, mon Pièce de Résistance:
Dave Walker’s Dullest Blog in the World:
Also, Like this, ISTP (Mechanics)!
Yesss!

I thought I'd give 'Typealyzer' a go but sadly it won't co-operate. It tells me that as my blog is written in Thai it is unable to analyze it!

I'm not sure what this says about my personality, blog or ability to write?

Remarkably, it put my blog as an INTP, which is the same as I am apart from my blog...

But I try not to be boring about it.

Er, Ian. I am seriously weirded out by your experience. Ifyou are writing in Thai without knowing it, are the rest of us reading in Thai without realising it? A kind of day of Pentecost thing in Thai?

I’m glad someone got something other than ISTP! So glad I thought I'd celebrate by trying Typealyzer again on my blog. And, perhaps by way of thanking me for the publicity, it measured it in the light of this morning's entry as "ESTP — The Doers"

Of my new personality type it said:
"The active and playful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-door activities.

The Doers are happiest with action-filled work which craves their full attention and focus. They might be very impulsive and more keen on starting something new than following it through. They might have a problem with sitting still or remaining inactive for any period of time."

If it wasn't cold and dark outside, I would pop out for a run and engage in some healthy outside outdoor activity to celebrate.

Did my blog, too (http://blog.thepastoralcompany.com) and it came up as ENTP, which is almost exactly the type I'm not. Ah well.

No, I'm a thinker and insensitive and that's probably right.

I tried it on the General Synod Blog and it broke. Is someone trying to tell me something?

I tried to do the same thing, and it did the self-same thing. It said the target machine actively refused it. It said it couldn't determine the language. All things I've long suspected about the General Synod — "life, Jim, but not as we know it..."
