A bit of fun, with a message. Big institutions fug things up when they bolt things on to try and help. We fug up our buildings and worship almost by accident as various things grow like Topsy, then wonder why people can't make head nor tail of them. Bishop Colin and I held a clergy day at Gerrard's Cross with Richard Giles earlier this year (following an earlier initiative by Bishop Stephen) about this issue.
Before you ask "What do our buildings and worship say to people?" ask "How would Microsoft package an iPod?"

Perhaps the most interesting thing about the Microsoft iPod video is that it was Microsoft themselves who produced it.
In a similar vein, and I think also worth considering when we are looking at worship, there is a great article over on Presentation Zen that compares the presentation style of Apple and Microsoft - the major point being that Jobs will often focus on simplicity giving a clear message, whilst Gates will cram large amounts of information in and people loose the important information in amongst everything else.
Thanks, Richard, especially for the Presentation Zen link — which will be a good read when I get a moment this evening.
